A Christmas relay event for a local primary schoolwas made possible through Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) and Tavistock Town Council.Some 120 pupils from Years 3-6 at St Andrew's Primary School in Buckland Monachorum joined in on national Christmas Jumper Day and the School Games Santa Dash day on December 10.
The pupils were divided into 30 x Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams of four with Christmas attire encouraged.
Despite a late start due to the roadworks at Callington Road causing substantial traffic delays, the event was a great success and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves running with and supporting each other.
Gold and silver medals were awarded to the first two boys teams and girls teams in each age group. All participants received certificates.
