Andrew says: So, I wrote a book. In May 2015 I had an accident which resulted in a trip to hospital in an Air Ambulance.

‘A life-changing event and one where I saw all of my sporting interests disappear along with my binocular vision. But I don’t resent or regret what happened, because now I write.

‘I am a GP and have worked in many practices in Devon and Cornwall over the last… let’s say quite a few years and currently work in Cornwall. I’ve also been a Ship’s Surgeon on board the RMS St. Helena, which is the Royal Mail ship supplying the small island in the South Atlantic where Napoleon Bonaparte was incarcerated, and I have worked in Australia and New Zealand.

‘I’m committed to my role as a doctor, but it does sort of tend to be a fund for my writing habit. And this is my work.

‘The first book is ‘Witchcraft, Science, God: Witchcraft’. It follows the exploits of a pleasantly naïve, junior doctor, who gets drawn into attempting to prove that incidents at a hospital either are, or are not, connected to witchcraft.

‘He is a scientist, therefore magical forces are not real, but things do keep happening, especially around him, that make him question his belief system.’

Synopsis:

Dr. Will Cunningham has arrived at Whitehorse Hospital where there have been two deaths amidst some highly unusual rumours.

His relaxed approach to his job and life in general, is challenged when he is asked to mentor medical student and keen surfer, Tamsin Trevelyan.

Her allegations against a highly respected colleague have inflamed an already volatile situation.

Will is drawn into helping her seek the justice that she feels has been denied but finds the line between science and well… the not very scientific, becoming increasingly blurred.

Andrew adds: ‘It is a series of medical, science-fiction, adventure novels, set against the spectacular backdrop of the moors and coasts of Devon and Cornwall.

‘Legend and local folklore abound, there is a bit on how medicine may shape up in the future and well, the odd deity reference, or the title wouldn’t make sense… oh, and surfing, lots of surfing.

‘As the series progresses, it explores the impact that we, as humanity have on our planet, differing perspectives on how we might deal with that impact and throws in a few ethical dilemmas we should all perhaps be considering.

‘A touch high brow? Not really — it is still a story with plenty of humour and engaging characters, and I hope it imparts to you, some of the wonder and awe that Cornwall and Devon inspire in me.’

The second book is: Witchcraft, Science, God: Science.
