SPECSAVERS Okehampton has undergone a significant refit to bring more 21st-century technology to the store.
The Fore Street store’s makeover has seen a full upgrade of the computer systems, a digitalised front window display screen, and new signage and fascia outside.
There is also a more open, spacious shopfloor, improved lighting using energy-saving LEDs and new up-to-date displays to illuminate the glasses frames.
The ambitious undertaking took four weeks to complete, with the store remaining open throughout to avoid affecting customers.
Karen Reader, the store’s Retail Director, says: ‘It looks fabulous. They worked through the night, night after night, to ensure as little disruption to customers as possible. It’s gone really well.
‘Our last refit was in 2014. We were due to have another in 2019 but it got pushed back because of Covid. It looks like a brand-new shop. People have been saying how amazing it is.
‘We’re really pleased about these changes to the store. It has made a big difference to our customers’ experience, demonstrating our desire to bring the best possible service for the people of Okehampton.’
Among the technology at the store is a hospital-grade OCT machine, which can view the health of people eyes in great detail, detecting any underlying conditions far earlier than was previously available.
The store’s computer and lighting upgrades also use less energy than before, meaning that its equipment is more environmentally friendly.
Karen added: ‘We’ve always been proud to be part of Okehampton’s forward-looking community and the investment we’ve made shows our confidence in the town’s future.
‘We believe the changes we’ve made will bring real benefits to our customers, combining the latest eye care, hearing care and retail technology to provide a highly professional and ultra-modern service.’
