A man has been found dead below Tavistock viaduct today (Wednesday). Police were called at 7.30am “following concern for the welfare of a man in the Tavistock area”. They found the man on the ground below the viaduct on Drake Road. South Western Ambulance Service also attended and the Devon Air Ambulance was seen overhead.

An undertakers’ van was also at the scene and removed the body of the man. The scene was cleared of emergency services at about 11am.

A police spokesperson said: “The man in his 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.” Police are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death but do not believe it to be suspicious at this time.
