FUN and frolics will bubble over on stage in Postbridge tonight when amateur dramatics group Phyl’s Follies stage their long-awaited production of Cinderella — featuring two local farmers as the pantomime dames.

Farmers Lloyd Mortimore and Frank Martin will take on the roles of the Ugly Sisters, named Lizzie and Pizzie, in the production which opens tonight (Thursday) at Postbridge Village Hall.

The cast got in the mood at their recent dress rehearsal, as these pictures above show.

Playing the Fairy Godmother is Alison Geen, while Cinderella is played by Libby Boston and her Prince Charming by Jayne Hutchings.

Dandini is played by Claire Caunter, Buttons by Colin Waite, Mouse by Paddy Gaunt, the Baroness by Alison Geen, Major Domo by Chris Willis, and the security guard by Sue Martin with Pat Audas doubling up as the bear and the tree. The chorus meanwhile, are made up of Annie Smerdon, Chris Willis, Sue Marin and Pat Audas.

The panto has been directed and produced by Colin Waite and Sarah Drew, who paid tribute to the small team ‘who have all put in a lot of hard work’ and thanked everyone for supporting the performance by buying tickets, saying ‘please join in with boos and singing where appropriate’.

Most tickets have now sold out for the performances tonight, tomorrow night and on Saturday afternoon and then on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week (February 3-5).
